Mckay Arrives at 2:50 am on Thursday March 31st 2005

As of this writing Mckay is less than a day old and he's already demonstrated a flare for drama. Amy started getting the idea that a baby may be on the way at 12:30 am on March 31st. We timed contractions and after about an hour decided we were definitely baby bound.

After gathering a few things together, we figured we had a few minutes to drop Caden and Kaitlyn off at the neighbor's house and get to the hospital. That's what ya get for thinking! Amy quickly moved from casual labor to full blown "Get Me There NOW" in a matter of 15 minutes.

Well, that's all dad needed to get the adrenalin pumping! After leaving Caden and Kaitlyn with the neighbors and convincing Amy she needed to jump in the car immediately, the little red Subaru got underway. Little red made record time on I-15 (perhaps Amy was making him nervous with her screaming?) so it didn't take long for us to arrive at the hospital. As we pulled up, we weren't sure if the doors would be open. Ya see, these doors are normally locked at night. For some reason they weren't locked that night. so dad was able to quickly acquire a wheelchair.

We made it to the nurses station when Amy couldn't take it any longer and stood up in the hallway. As soon as she stood up, Mckay popped right out into her pants. Mckay let out a muffled cry and six or seven nurses immediately ran to the rescue. They helped Amy into a room and did a great job with the rest of the delivery. While the doctor couldn't make it in time, the nurses were wonderful!

This was all plenty exciting to watch, and fortunately the show was in the hospital instead of the car. Mckay and mom are now fine and happy to be resting quietly! Oh, and for those interested, Mckay was 20 inches long and weighed 7lbs. 5oz.
